Goals for my Observatory Project March 2022

    A Milestone!

After one long day of work, the Whispering Skis Observatory's construction phase is complete! We ran short of some Brush Gasket, but other than that, the contractor’s work is now complete!

The rest is up to me! A project like this is never really done, and I have a long list of things that I still want to do!

But this is a major milestone!

I’m currently working on several new posts, one of which will document the last effort. But for now, I want to celebrate this milestone with a short video.

I had a rare sunny morning, so I decided to use the drone my son lent me to capture a view of the observatory's current state.

    I hope you enjoy it.

    What’s Next?

    In the short Term:

    • Continuing to dial in the scopes for use

    • Installing the Passive Interlock System

    • Installing the SkyAlert Weather System

    • Installing a flat panel for the SCA260 platform

    In the Mediu Term:

    • We have contracted with a landscaper to improve drainage and restore the lawn torn up by construction

    • Having a sign built for the observatory.

In the Longer Term (with warmer weather):

    • Expoxsying the floor

    • Painting the Steel

    • Installing shutters and painting the door

    • Painting the inside of the observatory

    Stay Tuned…

More will be coming on not only the observatory project but also first light for the observatory!
