Capturing the Universe from my Driveway! My 12-11-23 at Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY

Date: December 18. 2023

A Presentation given to the Students of Rob Parada’s Optical Instrumentation & Testing Course at MCC.

Background

A while back, a friend of mine from my days in Kodak asked me to give a presentation to the students of the Optical Instrumentation & Testing Course he teaches at Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY.

Originally I would provide the talk for two sessions, one on Dec 11th and another on Dec 12th. However, I ended up closing on a new house the same week and could not do two sessions. So, the plan was to record one session and share the recording for the second session.

The talk would be based on another talk I recently gave to the local chapter of IS&T - but with less emphasis on image processing and more of an overview of gear and methods.

The Experience

I enjoyed giving the talk, and the audience seemed engaged and patient with my long-winded ways. The talk went about 1 hour long, with some time for questions.

Rob kindly provided the recording so I could post it here and he took the image I used on the cover slide. Thanks Rob!
